Nikos
We visited the area of Agios Nikolaos in May this year. We love secluded beaches and hiking. We didn’t know much about the area, especially its northern part, but we learned that it has 15 beaches, most of them remote, and that’s why we decided to stay in the village of Milatos and explore the area. It was exactly what we were looking for!
Every day we went hiking and swam at a different beach. We soon realised that we had chosen the best time of the year because in May it is usually calm with no wind. Everything was perfect! We were impressed by Anogeia beach with the wonderful route and the awesome view going down the mountain. Fortunately we had taken all the necessary supplies because the beach was completely isolated. The pebbled beach of Agios Antonios was equally beautiful.
Near Milatos, our tour took us to Aspa beach that has small caves which provide shade. We loved Avlaki beach (or Vlichadia as we were told) and its crystal-clear blue waters and we even walked along the small canyon that leads to it! In the evenings we enjoyed fresh fish watching the beautiful sunset of Milatos. In short, we spent an amazing week of beach hopping and hiking. We will definitely visit the area again in the future.
