Windmills of Elounda

In the area “Kanali” of Elounda, we find three circular stone-built windmills which belong to the “circular” or “xetrocharis” (turning according to the wind direction). The location is of particular beauty and is characterized by strong winds. In particular, the windmill owned by Antonis Kapsoritakis has been listed as a historical monument and is inextricably linked to the history of the area and the collective memory of the local inhabitants. All three windmills form a particularly important building complex in terms of architectural style.
