Minoan Settlement in Vrokastro
The ruins of the Late Minoan settlement of Vrokastro occupy the peak of a steep slope near Kalo Chorio. It is one of the many settlements which date back to the darkest period of Crete, right after the destruction of the Minoan Civilization (1200-800 BC), and were created on the most inhospitable and difficult to reach peaks of the Cretan mountains. Vrokastro in particular served as a refuge due to its strategic and inaccessible position.
